Lunch Cruise to Cabbage Key
Believed to be the inspiration behind Jimmy Buffet’s song “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, Cabbage Key is rich in history and picturesque views. A rustic, “old Florida” hide-a-way, the island features an Inn and Restaurant built in 1938 by Alan Rhinehart and Gratia Rhine Hart. The island was purchased for $2,500.00. Alan’s mother Mrs. Mary Rhinehart was a very successful writer in the 1920’s.
The restaurant sits atop of a Calusa Indian shell mound and offers panoramic views of Pine Island Sound. Cabbage Key offer no beaches. Just great food and drinks in a tropical setting. There is a nature trail and water tower that can be climbed for great photos.
